PAPAGO BACK NINE

2004  Jack.......Wins the PPG's inaugural Major. It was a first hole playoff victory over Joe after shooting a 44.

2005  Mike.......(Huge scoring error)  Not Mikes fault, I blame Joe.  Mike wins with a 43.

2006  Chester.......DAVE BEATS JACK!   .........on Jack's own course...........at a major..........for the very first time.   Dave 47    Jack 54.   Jack fails to clear the lake on #11 THREE times.  FF Mike finishes with 5 pars in a row, but not good enough.  Chet shoots a solid 40 to take home the coveted green vest.  Good job Chet, great job Dave.

2007  Robert.......Happy Easter!  Robert holes out on #12 from ~80 yards out for his par.  It was that way all day for Robert, who winds up winning by 3 strokes with a 39.  Good field on hand.  And one more thing, no mustard on the Green Vest!

2008   Jack.......Jack shoots a 41 to beat Chet and Fancy by one stroke.  Nice crowd at Pap's last Sunday.  Andy, Dave, Randy, Jack, Chet, Fancy, Paul, Norm, Roberto, Bill and Joe showed up and had a feast of chips, hotdogs, bagels, ham and some of Dave's homecookin'.

2009   Jack.......In this instance, it's hard not to write "Fuckin' Jack" instead of just Jack.  Great Easter crowd at Enchanto.  Jack shoots a 40 to claim his third green vest.  John claims to have shot a 39, but was DQed for being late AND was awarded the purse.....OUCH!  Joe, Chet, Andy, Chris, Steve, Jack, Dave, OMT, John and Roberto all played.  The rain made for great conditions.  Congratulations Jack.                  

CAVE CREEK BACK NINE

2004  DW.......From what I hear, DW walked away with this one.  Where is he now when we need him to kick Robert's ass around the links?

2005  Joe.......Joe shoots a 38 on the back nine for a majors record.  This record could stand for a while.

2006  Joe.......Great Father's Day crowd.  Group #1  George, TB Tom, Chet.   #2  TS Tom, Dave, Robert   #3  Joe, Randy, Jack.  Joe birdies the last hole to shoot a 40.  And...........Randy takes out Jack!  See you at St. Andrews. (Sunday, July 23rd, hopefully at Aguila.)

2007  Jack........The greens were slooooow!  The rough was up, just ask John, who played in his first Major ever.  Randy had it going after 3 holes but......Nobody really lit it up, but Jack was steady enough to shoot a 41 and take it by one stroke.  He also got the purse for practice putting on the greens during play.  The British is next, Sunday, July 22.

2008  Robert.......Representing the northers, wins with a 39!  OMT was right there but Robert was steady and took the cup even after getting smacked by Chester before the round.  Lovely walk for those of us that did!  

2009   Mikey.......We have a NEW majors record.  FF shoots a 37 at Cave Creek.  He was even par on the green at 18.  Beats Chet by two shots.  Great, competitve crowd on hand.  We had 4 groups of 4.  John takes the purse because of his pants.  Thanks for the fun.

BACK NINE AGUILA (Hopefully)

2004  Robert.......Jack has cried "foul" on this one.  "Nobody waited for me!" (Or was I late?)  Yes, as Robert has pointed out, this was his first Major victory.   At Cave Creek, Norther wins!  Way to go Phil.   

2005  DW.......The mail was delivered. It said if you can't stand the heat, get out of DW's kitchen. It was as big a run away as Tigers. 39 won it, 42 was the next closest. The heat may have been a factor. Joe was not a factor. He was not alone on that list. Joining him was Chet, FF Mike, Jack, Banner, Randy, Darrin, Andy, TB Tom and George. TS Tom gave it a run but could not scramble enough to catch DW.  This one was at Papago.

2006  Joe.......A noteworthy group was on hand to play this British Open on the back nine at Encanto.  TB Tom, George, DW,  Dave, Andy, Jack, Joe, Chet, Randy, TS Tom gave it their best.  Jack eagles #12 from 150 yards out.  Dave was a DNF!  And, he took the purse. The pressure and Jack, especially Jack, seemed to get the best of him.  Joe shoots a scrambling 39.

2007   Chet.......I could not be more happy that a Norther won another major. Not only did Chet win he walked. Not only did he walk he finished in 2 hours. Way to brave the heat and keep the pace. The only Souther who could keep pace was Jack. Mike sorry for missing Dave and hitting into you. That was stupid. At least you did not have to wait on a Souther.

2008   Chet (Again).......A solid round of 39 wins it at Aguila.  Great crowd and good competition.  Rained the night before.  Andy (always a bride's maid) and Joe were distant seconds at 42.  Andy will win one soon.  Robert doubled his hotdog output from 2 to 4.  But at least he brought some!  And the grill too.  We had Chet, FF, Jack, Pepe, Joe, OMTRF, Chris, Randy, Woody, Steve, Dave, Roberto, Andy, Larry and Kyle (from Chitown)

2009   Chet (Again, Again).......On a day when old Tom Watson almost made history, Chet was busy making some of his own.  At Aguila, Chet shot a great round of 38 to run away with 1st prize for a record three years in a row.  Andy tied for 2nd with a 44, but most of the pack was in the 45 range.  Leo had a shot that came to rest in a moving golf cart, a Pink Flamingo if ever I saw one.  John takes the Purse again......

MARYVALE BACK NINE

2004  Joe.....I did not remember the play off between DW and Joe for the title.  Fortunately Joe did. Lucky us.  I can't even remember what he wore?  How bad is my memory.  Perhaps it is just selective.

2005  DW.....It was a swamp, humidity up, rough up, scores up.  DW  is what is up!  The poor guy keeps winning the Majors that do not have trophies.  Please help.  If you find a suitable trophy share it.

2006  OMT from the left side......(Written from a small town in Penna.)  Tom, no longer the best player not to win a major, cobbled together a solid 43 to win the PGA on a very tough back nine.  As usual, the rough at Maryvale was all you could handle.  Balls were more difficult to find than a cold beer when you really needed one.  Congratulations Tom! 

2007   Jack.....Yes, I've heard the story.  The real story is that everyone there should have scored better than they did.  I admire Andy for saying "I don't want to win it like that."  And I know Andy would like to claim one.  Side bar:  "John P. is 0 for 3".  (Nah, there is no such thing as Major Pressure.)  Til Christmas.  PS  Was 44 the winning number?  Ouch!

2008   John.....Back nine at Encanto.  John wins his first on a day when everyone else seemed to have at least one triple.  Another good group was on hand.  The rough was thick in spots but consistancy seemed to be needed in order to win.  John shot a 41 with no doubles or triples.  Good eats afterwards.

2009   Robert.....Career Grand Slam! "Smackin' Bob" held it together at Maryvale and won it with a 41.  The rough was tough as usual.  Chester, Jack, Joe and maybe more, were victims of #16.  Andy swung hard, hit the ball, only to have it go backwards.  John got the purse to complete his purse slam.  Randy, Woody, Bill, Norm, Mikey and right handed OMTRF were also there.

ENCANTO 18

2002  Chris     How surprised are you that it was pointed out that a name was missing from the champions list?  Here's a shocker, it was Chris. Thanks for the call Chris.

2003  Tom B. and Chet

2004  Chet and his fancy friend Mike     (Who is the idiot that set the pairings? Time to rethink that appointment.)

2005  DW and Joe      (Wow, there really is an idiot that sets the pairings.)  This group shoots even par.

2006  Chet (Again) and Besh     Beautiful Day!  18 of us nuts.  Big controversy.  Great dance moves Andy.  Let's see, was that supposed to be two threesomes or was it three twosomes?

2007  Jack and Norm     These two beat Besh and Tim Harris in a sudden death shoot out.  Both tied at 75.  Norm hit the winning chip shot "closest to the palm tree".

2008  Steve and OMTRF     Full moon!  18 of us had a great time.  Winners carded even par.  Norm said he hadn't had the purse all year.  That was a mistake.
